Open Lines, Sunday, 10-8-17 (32.71MB; download) -- Welcome to our one segment two hour 23 minute Open Lines program from Sunday. We had many phone calls on a variety of issues including a WaPo editorial calling commercial space and going to the Moon and Mars absurd. We also talked about the anniversary of Sputnik and a company launching a DIY build out of a small Sputnik like satellite. Musk and his Mars talk came up with lots of analysis of his plan to combine all his rockets and the Dragon into the one BFR. Another topic was the return to the Moon policy suggested at the first National Space Council meeting. Another caller talked about great NASA spinoffs. Dr. Doug had much to say about the SpaceX Mars plan and Doug's lunar cots efforts. Doug made some assumptions which I disagreed with though we both agree on the overall goals of getting to the Moon and Mars. We covered many topics with our callers including how Mr. Musk might finance his large Mars rocket. Our caller suggested orbital space tourism but listen to his theory and see what you think. Kim called and we taliked about earthquakes, supervolcanos, Moonwards and more. Don't miss all of what Kim had to say. John from Ft.
